This week I added hazards to the game, the burner and sink can now publish players for not paying attention. Leaving a completed item on the burner for too long causes it to overheat, spilling chemicals on the floor. Forgetting about the sink causes it to overflow with water. If a player is carrying something, they drop it when they walk over a spill causing them to create another spill.
I added a mop bucket to clean it up. You have to push the mop around with your player, making it somewhat unwieldy, then you can grab the mop and clean up a spill, the mop can only clean one spill then must be returned to the mop bucket, and pulled out again.
The goal behind these changes being to add some chaos to the game, and make it more difficult when managing multiple concurrent tasks.
Finally, I used Strudel which is a music programming language to make the first track for the game. I did this based on feedback I received from a play test the mentioned music could help pace the game, which I think I’ve captured.
